Outrossim, é importante referir que outrora existia a ActionAid Internacional, uma delegação da ActionAid do Reino Unido, que iniciou as actividades em Moçambique em 1988, transferindo-as para a Associação ActionAid Moçambique, criada em 2012.

Flooding in Mozambique: Families need urgent help

Following torrential rains in December and January, severe flooding has devastated lives and livelihoods across Central and Southern Mozambique. Families have lost their homes, crops, and belongings, and urgently need food, clean water, and support to survive.Mozambique is one of the world’s most climate-vulnerable countries, and this flooding has struck communities already facing hunger, displacement, and shrinking international aid. A neglected emergency with devastating consequences:

• Over 643,000 people affected, including 164,000 women of reproductive age
• More than 100,000 people displaced, sheltering in temporary centres
• Nearly 100,000 homes damaged or destroyed
• Over 5,000 km of roads damaged, cutting off access to food, water, and aid
• The main road linking Maputo to the rest of the country was severed multiple timesWith global media attention focused elsewhere, flooding in Mozambique risks becoming a neglected emergency. At the same time, international aid is shrinking, with recent funding cuts severely limiting humanitarian capacity, particularly in already vulnerable regions like Gaza Province in Mozambique.
